Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI)

This course will target elementary classroom teachers and literacy coaches, providing them comprehensive training on the effective implementation of the LLI program and the effective administration and data analysis utilizing the BAS to support differentiated instructional decision making. The course will address implementation of the leveled readers for small group guided reading instruction, comprehensive intervention resources for intensive literacy instruction, and formative running record assessment to monitor student progress.


Lucy Calkins Writing Units of Study

This professional learning course will focus on the Lucy Calkins Writing Units of Study that cover the three types of text in the Language Arts Florida Standards: Narrative, Information, and Opinion. Writing tasks are instructed through a writer’s workshop format across the grade levels of K-5. Student writing will be evaluated through performance assessments based on grade-specific learning progressions that are segments of a larger developmental learning continuum.

Daily 5 for Literacy Independence

This professional learning course provides teachers and literacy coaches with an introduction to the practice of Daily 5 rounds, and English Language Arts literacy management system as documented in the Daily 5 professional resource by Gail Boushey and Joan Moser. Participants will learn about the Daily 5 teaching and learning model that is based on a student-driven management structure for gaining independence in reading, writing, and word study.

Document Based Questioning 4-5

This professional learning course will provide intermediate level (grades 4-5) teachers with an overview of the DBQ Project 6-Step method. Participants will explore primary source documents designed to encapsulate historical thinking and writing skills. Lessons will provide participants with reading and writing support and strategies that include: close analysis and interrogation of documents, deep reading for understanding, and powerful evidence- based, argumentative writing.
